Silence transforms
Everything into beauty.
-Sri Chinmoy, on a card that came with my latte in Salzburg
Austria is a beautiful country, and the two cities I visited (Vienna and Salzburg) are unbelievably rich with architecture and culture. That being said, it should come as no surprise that Austria’s food is pretty world-class as well. Vegetarian fare that is creative, healthy(ish), and delicious can be hard to come by in this country, but I did manage overcome those culinary barriers to enjoy some delicious meals. Word of caution, though: The food here can be expensive and rich, so try to pace yourself.
So, what meal was my favorite? While I did *really* enjoy the salad with quinoa patties and sweet potato curry at Lugeck in Vienna, I also really did enjoy the perfect vegan breakfast at Heart of Joy Café in Salzburg.
